It administers the eight provincial museums founded by the Province of South Tyrol and regards itself as a service organization for such joint tasks as co-ordination, personnel issues, marketing, public relations, and bookkeeping.

In the last 20 years, the museums of South Tyrol have undergone a fundamental change. This was due largely to the activity of the Department for Cultural Affairs of the provincial government. The passage of numerous relevant provincial laws fulfilled the prerequisites for making innumerable cultural treasures accessible to the public for the first time.
In doing so, we have attached great importance to designing our museums according to modern didactic principles so that visitors are afforded an experience which is educational, entertaining, and exciting.
Furthermore, the museums offer activities and programs for the most-varied of interests: Some museums also offer excursions and special programs for families. The individual institutions would be happy to provide you with more information. All of the buildings are for the most part wheelchair-accessible.
Allow yourself to be surprised and inspired not only by the unique natural landscape of our Province, but also by these new museums. We would like to wish you a pleasant visit!
